Blood pressure control in rural South Asia is poor, and most patients are managed outside hospitals. COBRA-BPS tested a multi-component intervention delivered in the community across Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, funded by the MRC, Wellcome Trust and DfID with Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.
The intervention improved blood pressure control, and subsequent analyses showed it to be affordable at scale. Results were published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2020, with the economic evaluation in Lancet Global Health in 2021.
