Building the evidence against dengue

Dengue places a heavy burden on Sri Lanka and the wider region, and on the hospitals that must manage each outbreak.

The partnership has contributed to dengue research across vaccine development, vector control and biomarker development, including work on a biomarker to predict the risk of severe dengue, which would allow clinicians to identify the patients who need intensive care earliest.

We are now engaged in global collaborative programmes on dengue monoclonal antibodies and antivirals, extending our contribution to the development of targeted treatments for a disease that still has none.
